Fundraising three take on Kilimanjaro to help kids get mobile

Three intrepid explorers – including two employees from IHG’s UK and Ireland Managed Estate – took on Mount Kilimanjaro on Sunday 10 July, to raise funds for Whizz-Kidz.

Sarah Casciello and Mark Langham from IHG’s UK and Ireland Managed Estate, and friend Colin Palmer, scaled the 5,895 metres of Africa’s highest mountain via the Rongai Route. The trio hope to raise £5,000 from their adventure, which could fund six Whizz-Kidz clinics – where disabled children are assessed for the right wheelchair for their needs.

Sam & Mark join Whizz-Kidz at SG World National Schools Poetry Competition

The grand finale of the second annual National Children’s Poetry competition, hosted by SG World in support of the Whizz-Kidz charity, took place last month at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Attended by Whizz-Kidz patrons Sam & Mark, the event saw the nine winners (detailed below) recite their poems for an audience of celebrities, poets, pupils, teachers and parents. Three overall champions were then selected by Cheshire’s Poet Laureate, Terry Fox.

The National Poetry Competition was created to promote the importance of creativity in primary and secondary schools and to raise funds for Whizz-Kidz, its chosen charity. The one-day event also saw teachers pitted against each other in a series of X-Box Kinect games, entertaining their pupils by jumping, dodging and kicking their way …

CEO Ruth Owen responds to Health Secretary’s patient choice announcement
