Hartlepool Club Campaign shortlisted for UK Youth award

Whizz-Kidz’s Hartlepool Ambassador Club was a finalist for a Hearing Unheard Voices Award for their local access campaign. The awards were run by UK Youth – recognising campaigns run by young people across the country, and were held at a special ceremony attended by HRH Princess Anne, at St James Palace, London on 29 November 2011.

The Hartlepool Club decided to campaign about the size of public accessible toilets (dubbed “Too Tiny to Tinkle”) and parking spaces. The plan was to hold an open day and invite many local important people who would listen to a presentation created by the young Ambassadors.

Holiday Inn Peterborough Tackle Snowdon in Aid of Whizz-Kidz

This Summer (although the weather belied it) a team of 12 intrepid fundraisers from the Holiday Inn Peterborough hotel have tackled Mount Snowdon in aid of QMH nominated charity, Whizz-Kidz, raising a staggering £2200!

The epic climb saw the team face wind and rain of up to 50mph but they still managed to safely scale the 3560ft peak.

Caerleon Fair supports disabled Welsh youngsters

Kate Dibble from St Julians Newport, is the proud event organiser for a new calendar event for Caerleon – The Caerleon Christmas Craft Fair, taking place between 11am and 3.30pm on Sunday 4 December in Caerleon Town Hall.

As Christmas is a time for giving, Kate decided to partner the event with Whizz-Kidz – a charity that supports disabled children with wheelchairs and training –  and to help raise funds for young disabled people’s mobility.

Travis Perkins Has Talent – live final charity contest

UK builders’ merchants Travis Perkins showcased their many hidden talents in a nationwide search for the firm’s best singers and entertainers – raising over £1,200 for charity partner Whizz-Kidz at the same time. The winners from each region now face a live final at Northampton Saints Rugby Club inNorthampton on 7 December 2011.

The organisation-wide talent competition, organised by Group Supply Chain, saw employees from all over the country send in performance videos which were hosted on a dedicated YouTube channel.

Whizz-Kidz wins Public Affairs industry award for best innovation

We are thrilled to announce that last night Whizz-Kidz won the Party Conference Innovation Award at the Public Affairs News Awards; in front of a starry audience of MPs and sector professionals in public affairs, government relations, policy and communications at the 8 Northumberland venue, near Trafalgar Square, London.

Shortlisted to the final four nominees by a 24 strong judging panel, success was particularly meaningful as the winner was voted for live by the audience, using interactive keypads.

We won the award for our use of smartphone ‘podcasting’ tool, Audioboo at the Labour and Conservative Party Conferences earlier this year.
