Team Whizz-Kidz – London Marathon 2012

Yesterday, 562 people from around the country – including staunch supporter Rt Hon Ed Balls MP, and Patron Sam Nixon – pounded London’s streets during the iconic Virgin London Marathon to raise vital funds for Whizz-Kidz.

The event is the largest fundraiser in our calendar, and this year is set to raise £1.1 million to allow us to provide hundreds of disabled children with independent mobility.

Whizz-Kidz Welsh Baccalaureate Project

Whizz-Kidz has a long term aim to reach out to more young people in Wales to promote disability awareness. We have therefore worked with the Welsh Baccalaureate Team at the WJEC (the Welsh Joint Education Committee) to create a dedicated resource pack to be used by Welsh Baccalaureate students.

The Whizz-Kidz Welsh Bac Pack offers five fun and inspiring ‘Group Work Projects’ that promote team building, problem solving and community engagement. Aspects of each project include budgeting, promotion and marketing, presenting and campaigning – and above all the projects are exciting and interactive!

Beautiful day at the Gold Challenge Olympic Event

On Sunday 1st April, the new 2012 Olympic Stadium played host to an exclusive event as part of the Gold Challenge – with fundraisers taking part in Olympic and Paralympic-themed challenges for their favourite charities.

The beautifully sunny day matched the impressive surroundings of the Olympic Track, as our Whizz-Kidz team tested themselves physically in many different ways; sponsored by friends and family in order to raise vital funds supporting disabled children’s independent mobility.

Well done to everyone that came along and took part – we hope you enjoyed it. You also played an important role in helping London 2012 prepare for the Games as it was one of the key test events in the Stadium….
