Whizz-Kidz is delighted to announce that the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery have awarded the charity an extra £25,000 in additional funding, bringing their support of Whizz-Kidz up to a total of £250,000 this year and over £500,000 since 2013.
The announcement was made on Thursday 28 January at the 2016 People’s Postcode Lottery Gala Dinner, which took place at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh, and the funding will help transform the lives of many young wheelchair users across the UK.
Too many disabled children and young people do not have the equipment or the services they need to give them the freedom to fully enjoy their childhoods. The continued support of the People’s Postcode Lottery will help Whizz-Kidz provide vital wheelchairs and other mobility equipment and skills training to young wheelchair users across the UK, giving them the chance to achieve their full potential.
On hearing the announcement, Ruth Owen OBE, Chief Executive of Whizz-Kidz, said: ‘We are extremely thrilled to receive this additional funding from the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
‘The evening was a fabulous celebration of the great support Whizz-Kidz and other charities receive from the People’s Postcode Lottery. Without this support we would not reach as many young people and give them an opportunity to fulfil their potential.
‘In the last three years, their substantial awards have helped us to carry out life-transforming work. We are hugely grateful for the support of the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery and look forward to working with them in the future.’
Clara Govier, Head of Charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, said: 'As People’s Postcode Lottery continues to grow the amount that our players award to good causes continues to increase. We are very proud that our players can continue to support the development of these fantastic causes.'
