We were delighted this week to receive a brand new van for our mobile service thanks to our charity partner, Travis Perkins. The van, worth over £20,000 was donated to Whizz-Kidz as part of a joint effort between both Travis Perkins and Briggs Equipment, who chose to donate the van to Whizz-Kidz to celebrate their 1000th fork lift truck supplied to Travis Perkins.

The van will join our fleet of vehicles that travel the country offering increased flexibility to children and their families. By assessing and delivering equipment to their own homes, we can fit around their lives and schedules, saving them time and effort, and setting them on the road to a full an active life straight away.

The mobile services scheme has been running successfully since 2012, and in 2015 alone has led to over 500 children being seen by our mobility specialists in the comfort of their own home or school.

Commenting on the van handover, Robin Proctor, Supply Chain Director for Travis Perkins plc, said: “We have been working hard to raise money for Whizz-Kidz and to support the work they do, so donating this van, which will be used straight away to help improve the lives of disabled children, is a particular highlight of our partnership with the charity. We look forward to continuing to support Whizz-Kidz and have set a fundraising target of £200,000 to reach by the end of 2016.”

Matt Wynes, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Whizz-Kidz said: “We are incredibly grateful to Travis Perkins for this hugely generous gift. The new van will help us reach more children in more places, providing them with the life-changing mobility equipment they need to enjoy full, active childhoods and reach their true potential.”

The van is now up and running and touring the country as we speak! For more information on how our scheme works, watch this video.
