Whizz-Kidz is about more than just providing mobility equipment. We are constantly looking at other ways that we can help improve the lives of young disabled people, through additional support and advice.
Following a joint project with the Contact a Family Helpline we are now able to provide advice and information to support disabled children and young people and their families on a range of disability issues. Our focus is on providing mobility related information and advice, but our partnership with Contact a Family enabled us to pool our expertise and provide families with a wider range of information and advice on where to get help with benefits, short breaks, respite care etc.
Getting the right equipment for a disabled child can be a minefield of frustration for families, particularly when they are not able to get what they need from their local services. From the information we receive from families and through regular consultation we can identify the common problems families with disabled children face. From this we look to determine how we can raise awareness of a particular disability issue by incorporating it in our campaigning work. Where appropriate we would seek legal advice and take advice on how we could best get our case heard.
If you need advice on getting your child the right support, please email us or call our Advice and Information Coordinator on 0845 052 1231 (local rate).
If you would like to help us to change more disabled children's lives please join our campaign.

With my Whizz-Kidz chair I could push myself and therefore choose where I wanted to go rather than where I was pushed. This taste of freedom and independence led to me getting involved in wheelchair sports
