Mobility equipment

Whizz-Kidz is meeting a growing unmet need for disabled children’s mobility equipment in the UK. We provide customised wheelchairs, tricycles and other types of mobility equipment that gives each disabled child maximum independence.

Whizz-Kidz is unique amongst voluntary organisations as it has a team of highly qualified mobility therapists throughout the UK. Our trained team of occupational and physiotherapists have specialist knowledge in providing the equipment for disabled children and young people. They assess each child’s individual clinical and ‘lifestyle’ needs in order to provide them with the best possible piece of mobility equipment.

The mobility equipment we provide costs from £750-£2,000 for an adapted tricycle, £2,500-£3,500for a manual wheelchair, £1,000-£3,500 (maximum Whizz-Kidz contribution) for a specialised tricycle and from £2,500-£15,000 for a powered wheelchair. The average direct cost of providing customised mobility equipment is £5,900.
