Whizz-Kidz accessibility
"The power of the web is in its universality. Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect."
-- Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director and inventor of the World Wide Web
In designing the new site we have endeavored to provide you with the most accessible site to satisfy the needs of all users. The text is made larger by using the browser interface.
The W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) have a range of accessibility levels that sites must fulfil to stay within US Federal and European Union law. These are listed as Priority 1, 2 and 3. This site has been developed to satisfy Level 2 Accessibility.
Background text and colours
In designing the site we have chosen a colour palette, single colours for backgrounds and avoided where possible patterns or textures. The pages are also designed to be high contrast between text content areas and other regions of the site.
Images
Alt tags describing photographs or images with text descriptions are provided throughout the site. Wherever possible we have used text alternatives to images displayed for those users who employ screen-readers to view web pages.
Links and PDFs
Wherever links have been used the terminology describes their function and where downloads are necessary, Adobe Acrobat Reader is available if the user should need it. PDF documents are readable by visually impaired people using access technology with the help of 'Access Adobe'. Access Adobe translates PDF into HTML or into a text email, making it readable by someone unable to access PDF in the usual way. We ensure that we give the URL of each PDF file and that a link to http://access.adobe.com/ is available.

It is important having an ambassador network because it helps raise the profile of Whizz-Kidz so children can get their wheelchairs quicker
