Whizz-Kidz fundraiser Adele Young, 32, of Maidenhead, won a Sports Tours International competition for an all-inclusive New York Marathon package – by recounting an amusing tale about her fundraising.

Yahoo account manager Adele told how she once stood on the platform at London’s Paddington railway station in a cheerleader’s outfit and wearing yellow tights…as commuters streamed by throwing quips and comments her way.

She explained: “I commute into London everyday and always see people at the station trying to raise money for charity. I just wanted to stand out.

Whizz-Kidz wants YOU to send in your invention ideas for new technology that could help in your everyday lives – and they could be picked to be brought to life!

You can send them directly to us via the new Whizz-Kidz Young Inventors website.

They could be things to help you at school, at home, or things that make having fun even better.  If your idea is chosen you will be invited to the ‘Healthcare Innovations Expo’ in London, where you will be able to see technical drawings of your invention and be involved in developing them into reality!

Team Tesco raises the stakes for the 2010 New York Marathon

A team of seven Tesco team members have raised the bar on event fundraising, having passed an astonishing £46,000 towards their New York Marathon 2010 target.

Adam Smith, one of the team leaders says, “It started out as a discussion between Phil and myself about dedicating 2010 to raising some money for charity. By January there were seven of us signed up to run the New York Marathon!
