Laurie is a popular member of his local Amassador Club in Croydon, winning people over with his cheeky sense of humour. Laurie is also a passionate campaigner and enjoys challenging people's perceptions of disability.
Laurie recently took on the role of sitting on a British Red Cross project steering group, spearheading a programme which trains young disabled people to train other young people in first aid which was identified as a skills many Ambassadors felt they were missing.
Laurie recently completed an introduction to everyday first aid taster session and learned how to treat a very realistic looking open wound using casualty simulation.
His hard work and drive on the steering group ensures the project meets the needs of young disabled people, including those with more complex needs. Laurie also acts as an advocate for the scheme to external agencies and decision makers. We hope to extend this exciting programme across our Ambassador network.
