Nathan won Campaigner of the Year at the 2013 Kidz Unlimited Awards for his ‘Accessible Leeds’ website and was even tweeted by Coldplay’s Chris Martin about his campaign!
Nathan is a keen campaigner at his local Ambassador Club in Leeds and helps to make his home city more accessible for young disabled people like him, going above and beyond to achieve this. Nathan visits and rates various public places such as restaurants, cinemas and shops detailing their accessibility for disabled people on his website accessibleleeds.com. He also names and shames those businesses which are not inclusive.
‘Before being involved in Whizz-Kidz I had no interest in politics, now I enjoy campaigning about accessibility. I am very proud of my website as it informs people with disabilities where the best and worst places for accessibility are in Leeds. I would advise other young disabled people to become Whizz-Kidz Ambassadors and always follow their dreams!’
He has even met with his local MP to report findings from his campaigns, and received a well-deserved mention in Parliament for his hard work.
Nominated for a Diversity Award in 2012, Nathan is a brilliant role model to young disabled people everywhere. He is passionate about improving and enriching their lives and clearly loves his work.
