Rod Stewart Fan Club Charity Fundraiser
The Rod Stewart Fan Club held a three day event at Walsall Football ground in March and a fantastic £4,134.00 was raised! Mary, Rod’s Stewart’s sister (pictured), attended as the Fan Club’s special guest. Mary and her son choose Whizz-Kidz to benefit from this years fundraising event. Rod’s posessions along with some of his gold discs, silk and velvet suits were up for auction. They also raffled off some of Rod’s memorabillia. Thank you to the Whizz-Kidz Rugby team for volunteering on the night and the Rod Stewart Fan Club for their kind donation. The event was great fun and raised a fantastic sum!

Sea Cadets from Walton-on-the-Naze

21 Sea cadets and staff from Walton-on-the-Naze completed a sponsored wheel chair marathon from Walton Pier along the sea front promenade to Clacton Pier. This was a total distance of 7 miles in very strong winds making the challenge even harder! Commanding Officer Lieutenant Gary Dodd said, the wheelchair marathon had given the cadets taking part a small insight into the life of a wheelchair user. Well done to all of those who took part and a massive thank you! The cadets have set themselves a further fundraising challenge in September 2011 to support Whizz-Kidz when they will take part in the Great River race, rowing 21 miles along the river Thames.
