Volunteer Opportunities
Would you like to volunteer and help disabled children across the UK?
Volunteering is a great way to develop new skills, impress future employers with your dedication, meet new people and make a valuable contribution to our work and your local community.
Whizz-Kidz is looking for volunteers of all ages to join our national Volunteer Network. If you have an open mind, tons of enthuasiasm and a postive attitude we have opportunities to suit you!
As a result of v and True Colours Matched funding we would particularly like to encourage young people between the ages of 16-25 – disabled and non disabled – to volunteer and get active in their local community.
Local Fundraising Volunteers
Whizz-Kidz could not continue to help disabled children and their families without the donations and fundraising efforts of the public. Fundraising is vital to enabling us to continue our work and help more disabled children to enjoy their childhood and every penny raised helps us to do this. Volunteers can contribute to fundraising in a number of different ways.
Fundraising Groups
Would you like to set up a Whizz-Kidz fundraising group with friends or people in your area? Organise your own fundraising events as a team, set yourselves targets, support each other, make new friends, have great fun and also raise money on a regular basis. The Regional team will help you make the most of your fundraising ideas and opportunities, ensuring that you are always given the advice, information and merchandise you need.
Helping at Local Events and Local Volunteering
We need regular time to time volunteers, who will help out once, twice or three times a year at planned local events such as supermarket collections or Whizz-Walks. Reliable and dependable volunteers are vital to our success and make a real difference – even if you can spare one day once a year, your contribution will be of great value.
Organising your own event
Use your organisational and social skills to raise money for Whizz-Kidz and help disabled children. Individually or with friends, have fun whilst raising funds for a fantastic cause.
West Midland Appeal
The Right Start Appeal aims to raise £250,000 to buy wheelchairsd and provide long term support and training for disabled children living in the West Midlands. If you can fundraise for this important Appeal then we would like to hear from you.

Wheelchair Skills Training Volunteers
Wheelchair skills training improves independent mobility by teaching disabled children how to get the most out of their wheelchairs. Wheelchair trainers teach techniques that build confidence and develop autonomy. Volunteers who work at the training sessions do not need to have prior knowledge about wheelchair use but do need to be willing to learn. You will be partnered with a disabled child/young person for the duration of your involvement in the wheelchair training scheme. For this reason volunteers are known are “buddies”. The role of the buddy is to support their young partner to get the most out of the programme by encouraging full involvement ensuring that they understand and engage in the group activities.
To find out more about wheelchair training and how it helps disabled children visit what we do.
We need a committed team of volunteers to support the delivery of our wheelchair training programme for young people. If you want more information about becoming a wheelchair skills training volunteer email or call the Volunteer Development Officer on 020 7798 6120. You can also check if there is a scheme in your area by looking at the wheelchair training calendar.

Ambassador Clubs Volunteers
We have a growing network of Ambassador Clubs set up around the country established in Blackburn, Newcastle, Manchester, Norwich, Nottingham, Birmingham, Guildford, Tower Hamlets, Harlesden, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Belfast, and Swansea. Ambassadors meet six times a year to discuss and implement national and local campaigns, as well as support our media and fundraising activities. The young disabled people involved are given life skills training and the opportunity to get involved in a variety of initiatives that not only benefits Whizz-Kidz, but also benefits them from a personal development point of view. Plus they get to meet like minded people and make new friends.
