People’s Postcode Lottery awards Whizz-Kidz an outstanding additional £25,000 to transform the lives of young disabled children in Great Britain!

Whizz-Kidz is delighted to announce that the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery have awarded the charity an extra £25,000 in additional funding, bringing their support of Whizz-Kidz up to a total of £250,000 this year and over £500,000 since 2013.

Whizz-Kidz Ambassadors recieve awards 

Whizz-Kidz has awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award to 25-year-old Aaron Plemming from Wales, and a Skills Achiever Award to 19-year-old Beth Thomas from Manchester. The awards were part of the charity's 25 awards to celebrate its 25th birthday.

Whizz-Kidz calls on Government to prioritise improving wheelchair services

Responding to the Government’s consultation on its Mandate to NHS England, which sets out the government’s objectives for the NHS, Whizz-Kidz has highlighted that wheelchair services are letting down disabled children and young people across England.

Transport needs to be more inclusive for young wheelchair users

Three quarters of wheelchair users and their families and carers can’t travel as independently as they would like to and two in three do not feel confident enough to use public transport, according to a report released by disabled children’s charity Whizz-Kidz.

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery award £200K to Whizz-Kidz for second year running

For the second year in a row, Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have awarded Whizz-Kidz £175k, in order to transform the lives of disabled children in Great Britain. In an announcement made last week, the players will also be awarding Whizz-Kidz an extra £25K, bringing the total to an incredible £200K for 2015.

Disabled girl leaps to aid of woman having an epileptic seizure when no one else would on packed train

2nd July 2014: Kayleigh, 17, leapt out of her wheelchair to the aid of a woman having a violent epileptic seizure on the train from Bristol Temple Meads to Trowbridge last week, which was packed full of people who watched and did nothing to help.

Serco employees raise £100,000 for Whizz-Kidz 

17th February 2014: Serco employees across the UK have raised £100,000 for Whizz-Kidz, a UK charity which aims to transform the lives of disabled children and young people through vital mobility equipment, skills training and work placements.  The money has been raised by Serco staff undertaking a variety of fundraising activities and events - from dress down days through to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - on behalf of The Serco Foundation.
