Brigit has Cerebral Palsy and uses a powered wheelchair to get around. She enjoys swimming and horse riding but came along to wheelchair training because she wanted to build her confidence and be more independent, as well as to make some new friends.

Brigit uses a communication aid to help her communicate with others. She joined in with the training activities and very quickly became a great asset to the group.

Brigit’s wheelchair skills visibly improved at each training session. Stewart, the trainer said,

“By the end of the programme Brigit had better spatial awareness, control, and route planning ability. She was also able to participate fully in group activities with other children, something she was a little nervous about at the beginning.”

Brigit’s dad commented at the end of the wheelchair training programme:

“Brigit’s school has actually commented on a change in her behaviour and attitude in the last few weeks, she is more confident and much more aware of others around her”. I liked the structure of Whizz-Kidz’ wheelchair training and the relaxed learning atmosphere.”

Brigit said:

“I really enjoyed the training and would change anything other than I would have liked it to have been even longer.”

Since the training Brigit has become a Whizz-Kidz’ Ambassador and will be attending the next wheelchair training programme to further enhance her skills.
