Kurtis and Zoe
Kurtis and Zoe are thirteen year old twins from Scotland. Kurtis is a huge Celtic Football fan and is lucky enough to have a season ticket for home matches. He also enjoys swimming, and has won certificates. Zoe also enjoys swimming, but her main hobby is shopping and she loves fashionable clothes.
Both Kurtis and Zoe have Cerebral Palsy which affect their limbs and movement. Their NHS wheelchairs were bulky and too heavy for them to move with ease. When the twins got tired outdoors their mum often had to pull one wheelchair and push the other – which was exhausting.
Their mum applied to Whizz-Kidz for two lightweight wheelchairs. These have been individualised for each twin. Kurtis has his in green and gold as these are the colours of his team and Zoe chose purple and gold.
The twins are delighted with their new ‘Kuschall’ lightweight wheelchairs which are robust enough to meet their needs. The family can also enjoy days out as their chairs fold and fit in the car. The twins are able to propel with greater ease and can push themselves for longer. They can now help to get themselves ready for school and out onto the drive, ready to go.
Zoe says:
“I am ‘special’ because I am the only person with a wheelchair that is purple and gold!”
