Robert has Cerebral Palsy, a condition caused by brain damage that affects his movements, and for him means he finds it difficult to walk unaided. The wheelchair he had was too slow and heavy and it made it difficult for him to play properly.

Robert comments:

“My family are real sports fanatics. My twin brother, Matthew, plays basketball regularly for one of the top teams in the country and my Dad’s a basketball coach so I had always wanted to get involved in the sport”.

Whizz-Kidz provided Robert with the manual lightweight sports wheelchair so that he can realise his dream. In his own words;

“Since I’ve got my wheelchair from Whizz-Kidz I’ve become loads more confident. I used to be quiet, but playing basketball has meant I’ve made lot of new friends. I’ve just been to the Great Britain under-18s basketball trials. We’ve got the second best team in the world and, who knows, if I make the team they could become the best. Thanks to Whizz-Kidz I really feel as if nothing can stop me from achieving whatever I want. You’ve just got to have faith in yourself”.
