Exclusive: sneak preview of Whizz-Kidz new cinema advert
Here it is! Whizz-Kidz proudly presents our brand new cinema advert, showing in cinemas nationwide as of April 2nd 2010. Narrated by ‘Cold Feet’ actor James Nesbitt, it was produced pro bono by creative agency, The Red Brick Road.
The advert depicts young wheelchair users behaving mischievously and getting up to childhood pranks – freed up to do so by mobility equipment that “lets kids be kids”. All of the young people in the commercial are real disabled ambassadors of the charity.
Mark Robertson, Director of Communications at Whizz-Kidz says: “The advert aims to have a bit of fun with the idea that having independent mobility allows kids to be naughty or mischievous in the same way as other children. So there is a twin awareness and fundraising ask: support us to fund more equipment for young people, and allow disabled children to be – perhaps challenging some assumptions – fun loving, independent and sometimes cheeky!”
Liam Butler, The Red Brick Road, says: “We wanted to show that kids just want to be kids whatever their circumstances. Whizz-Kidz provide mobility equipment and training to help disabled children do just that. By showing children being mischievous we highlight the freedom which Whizz-Kidz are able to provide.”

Mark Robertson, adds: “We are incredibly grateful to The Red Brick Road, Smuggler and the entire production team for the entirely pro bono support on this project. We’re not a big charity and don’t do a lot of above the line advertising, so to be given the opportunity to do something so mainstream – and for it to capture our essence so wonderfully – is fantastic.”
