A hearty congratulations to the Tesco Seven, who together have managed to raise over £65,000 for their Whizz-Kidz New York Marathon sponsorship!

Their fundraising literally knew no bounds as they involved family and friends, work colleagues and partner’s schools as well a organising a ‘World Cup’ themed 5-a-side football tournament with business contacts which raised £8,000 alone in one day!
As for the New York Marathon, which took place on a bitterly cold November day, all seven men finished it between 3 ½ and 6 ½ hours.
Adam Smith, explains how the challenge began; “It started out as a discussion between Phil and myself about dedicating 2010 to raising some money for charity. By January there were seven of us signed up to run the New York Marathon! With 3.5 months to go until we run in New York, it is safe to say that all seven of us are enjoying the challenge to a) get fit and to b) raise as much money as possible for Whizz-Kidz.
“It’s fair to say that the challenge of completing the marathon for such a great cause pushed us all out of comfort zones and motivated us to go the extra mile.”
Whizz-Kidz has long had a relationship with Tesco after an incredibly successful partnership as their charity of the year in 2006; raising £3.5 million.

Alex Barclay, Events Fundraiser added “It was amazing to have such a wonderfully motivated and dedicated team on board for the 2010 New York Marathon and we loved being able to support them in New York and celebrating their success with them afterwards! We certainly feel honoured and proud to have had their support. The £65,000 that they have raised will go a huge way towards helping many of the children currently on our waiting list.”
