Travis Perkins Has Talent – live final charity contest

UK builders’ merchants Travis Perkins showcased their many hidden talents in a nationwide search for the firm’s best singers and entertainers – raising over £1,200 for charity partner Whizz-Kidz at the same time. The winners from each region now face a live final at Northampton Saints Rugby Club inNorthampton on 7 December 2011.

The organisation-wide talent competition, organised by Group Supply Chain, saw employees from all over the country send in performance videos which were hosted on a dedicated YouTube channel.

The finalists in full are:

Andy Corrigan - Travis Perkins Northern Region, Farnworth

John Abel – Tile Giant,Milton Keynes

Denisia Adum – Wickes Head Office,Harrow

Greg Foley – Timber Supply Centre,Cardiff

Gordon Frazer – Travis PerkinsScotlandNorth East andCumbria,Carlisle

Robert Claydon – F&P Wholesale, Tottenham

The voting process worked by viewers donating £1 to their chosen video’s unique JustTextGiving code – with Whizz-Kidz receiving 100% of each £1 vote cast. The videos with the most text-votes from each region won their place to perform at the live final; where the ultimate winner will be crowned ‘TP’s Got Talent Winner 2011’.

The fundraiser is hoped to raise around £5,000 in total, and will support disabled children to find their own talent – by getting access to the right wheelchairs and skills training for them at the right time.

Kat Hopps, Whizz-Kidz Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser said: “We’ve discovered all kinds of fantastic performers – from Austin Powers impersonators to magicians, lots of singers, and even a pole dancer! I can confirm Travis Perkins definitely has Talent! We’re now really excited to see who wins!”

Robin Proctor from Travis Perkins added: “Everybody was very excited about this competition and it created quite a buzz around Travis Perkins! We wanted to support our nominated charity Whizz-Kidz and give our employees the chance to get involved in something fun and a little different”.

“We hope that this will be a massive success and become an integral part of our fundraising calendar in the future.”

You can still watch the videos of all the entries, but voting has now finished. However, if you wish to make a donation to Whizz-Kidz, you still can using each video’s unique text code: www.youtube.com/TPsGotTalent2011.
