Whizz-Kidz Ambassador Jamie Green, and Ed Balls MP at Labour Party Conference
On Sunday 25 March 2012, Rt Hon Ed Balls MP today announced he is to run the Virgin London Marathon, on Sunday April 22 2012.
He is raising awareness and funds for Whizz-Kidz – the charity which supports young disabled people’s mobility – and Action for Stammering Children.
Ruth Owen, CEO of Whizz-Kidz said:
“We are delighted that Ed Balls has chosen to support Whizz-Kidz in running the Virgin London Marathon. Ed is a strong champion of disabled children, and their right to an accessible education and active childhood.
“Ed has met with many young Whizz-Kidz Ambassadors, and backed our Kidz Board’s schools consultation when in government. In taking on this iconic challenge, Ed will be helping many more young disabled people get the right mobility equipment they need to live independently.”
