Molson Coors' Christmas Jumper DayWhizz-Kidz’s partnership with Molson Coors UK began in 2010 and has raised over £358,000 – more than double their original target.

The company initially set out to raise £180,000, which would buy 36 wheelchairs for the charity. But in true Molson Coors style, they didn’t just stop when they hit that target back in November 2011, they continued with their fundraising efforts and carried on raising money long beyond the initial two year partnership.

Fundraising activities

Staff in Burton, Alton, Tadcaster, Leeds, Cardiff, Livingston and mobile teams across the UK have really got stuck in to fundraising with events such as golf days, cake sales, re-gifting events, a Christmas Jumper Day and so much more. One of their more unusual events was a ‘Mud, Sweat and Beer’ challenge - a three month challenge consisting of Brecon to Cardiff bike ride, a Snowdon Climb and Cardiff 10k.

Molson Coors staff have also joined our events team in Neon Nightwalks, Marathons and cycle rides.

Partnership impact

As well as a very impressive fundraising effort, a number of Molson Coors staff have also got involved in volunteering with the charity – attending Ambassador Clubs (Whizz-Kidz’s youth groups) and Wheelchair Skills Training events.

The graphics studio also worked with Whizz-Kidz’s Birmingham Ambassador Club to produce a poster for their campaign around the misuse of wheelchair parking spaces, called Space Invaders. The Communications team also took on a young disabled person for a work placement.

Ruth Curry from the Burton Office even chose Whizz-Kidz as her charity of the year when she became President of the Ladies Circle in 2013 – encouraging all members of the circle to hold curry nights and cycling events to raise money for the charity.

A huge thank you

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Molson Coors who have supported us, and who continue to volunteer or raise money for us. By supporting Whizz-Kidz you’re enabling us to transform the lives of young disabled people.
