The Group Commercial and Group Supply Chain divisions of Travis Perkins plc are supporting Whizz-Kidz for two years, aiming to raise £200,000 to transform the lives of disabled children across the UK.
The company kicked off their fundraising in early 2015 and are already well on their way to their target, having raised £120,000 so far. The funds raised are supporting our work across the country, giving young wheelchair users the equipment, training and opportunities they need to reach their true potential.
Colleagues across the divisions have organised a huge variety of fundraising activities to reach this total, holding family fun days at their warehouses, putting on cake, sales, barbeques and sports tournaments, and taking on lots of challenges for Whizz-Kidz.
In September 2015 nine teams from Travis Perkins took part in our Beat the Brecons event - raising over £42,000 between them by cycling, trekking and canoeing through the welsh countryside in a 12 hour challenge. And in December, the annual TP's Got Talent event raised over £40,000, with Travis Perkins colleagues and suppliers coming together in Northampton to watch performers from across the group battle it out to be crowned TP's most talented.
Travis Perkins also generously donated a van to Whizz-Kidz in August 2015, in partnership with their supplier Briggs. The van joined the fleet of Whizz-Kidz vehicles used by our Mobility Engineers to deliver mobility equipment and carry out adjustments at families' convenience, assessing their new equipment in the environment in which it will be used, at school or at home.
We're looking forward to another fantastic year working with Travis Perkins in 2016, and have already welcomed the first few teams from the business onto our Take on the Lakes corporate challenge!
