Long-standing Whizz-Kidz supporter Stacey was hooked after she ran her first marathon for the charity in 2011.
Having taken part in so many events, there’s comes a point in every fundraiser’s journey where asking friends and family for sponsorship simply isn’t enough. So, instead of asking friends for donations, Stacey enlisted their help instead to help her organise a big casino night.
Stacey told us, “My friends were fantastic in helping me sell tickets to the event which meant we managed to reach a lot more people than I would have on my own. I begged companies of all sorts for raffle prizes and came back with some fantastic prizes to offer.
“On the night I enlisted my friends to help run the tables and to walk around with canapés whilst others helped to sell raffle tickets. Big events can be very time consuming but the rewards are definitely worth it!”
Stacey said, “The biggest effect was reading the stories of the children I was going to help. Knowing I could sincerely make a difference in their life was my main motivator. I knew I had made the right choice as I was running the 26.2 mile course and could see all the smiling happy faces of the kids and met them at the end.”
To date, Stacey has taken on the London, Berlin and Reading Marathons, not to mention climbing Mount Everest which just goes to show that she’s a fundraising pro!
A £600 casino night enables our team to support a young person’s health and personal care needs for one week of their work placement, fully facilitating the young person’s independence while they acquire vital employability skills.
