Maxine Taylor

Trusts, Statutory and Lottery Fundraiser

My responsibilities include raising funds for our Life Journey Services in Wales, writing detailed reports for a varied portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, developing relationships with current supporters, and researching new trusts that could be interested in supporting our work. I love co-ordinating service visits for our supporters as it really brings our work to life.

In my spare time I like to travel, volunteer locally, watch old movies and eat out in new restaurants!

Hayley Parker

Trusts, Statutory and Lottery Fundraiser

My responsibilities include developing relationships with current trust supporters as well as researching new trust funding opportunities. My day-to-day role includes researching new trusts, as well as communicating with our current trusts to find out their specific aims in order to send tailored applications and update them on their support and Whizz-Kidz wider work.

In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and discovering new and ingenious healthy recipes to try!

Dhakshi Suriar

Trusts and Foundations Officer

My responsibility is to keep in touch with Trusts who currently support Whizz-Kidz or who have done so in the past.  I spend a lot of time speaking with Trustees keeping them updated on Whizz-Kidz’s beneficiaries and upcoming activities as well as writing funding applications. I’m also responsible for the team’s day-to-day admin.

I love to travel and am currently learning Spanish. Like the rest of my team, I’m also a  big foodie.

A day in the life of a Trust Officer at Whizz-Kidz

A typical day for includes researching Trusts and Foundations that share similar aims to Whizz-Kidz. This allows us to offer exciting funding opportunities based on a trust's specific interests and goals. We also spend time writing updates sharing how their support has help transform the lives of disabled children across the UK. We work closely with all teams within Whizz-Kidz, giving us a detailed understanding of the charity’s work, so that we can relay up-to-the-minute information in our communications with trusts. Keen to develop solid relationships with our supporters, we’re often on the phone and emailing trusts to gain a continuous understanding of their individual preferences. Our work is incredibly rewarding and interesting. No two days are the same!

Intern experience - Matt, 17

I heard about Whizz-Kidz through the partnership they have with Bedford school. I attended a talk given by older pupils who had done an internship at Whizz-Kidz the previous summer. I knew that it would be great experience for me and it is obviously a fantastic cause to be a part of.

My internship was two weeks long during the summer holidays. I worked for the Trusts Team for the majority of the time completing funding applications and working with the database Raiser’s Edge. I helpedwith some research and enjoyed writing updates on the work of the charity. I also worked for two days with the Partnerships Team and one day with the Young Peoples Team. My personal highlight is probably knowing that the applications I sent off may raise funds which could transform the life of a young person. All the employees at Whizz-Kidz are very welcoming and really make you feel like part of the team. Thank you!
