Our Vision
Our vision is that all disabled children’s lives are full of fun, friendship and hope for an independent future. Just like any other kids.
What makes us different?
There are a lot of charities asking for your support, but there are things about Whizz-Kidz that make us different. We’re youthful and down to earth. We help children and young people in every community – and we help them in very practical ways.
What we do is liberating.
Our strategy
Our strategy is focused on increasing our impact on more young disabled people’s lives. We are determined to diversify our income to ensure continued growth and development for the longer term.
Each year we aim to provide more children and young people with appropriate mobility equipment than ever before. But providing mobility equipment is just the start. We provide disabled children and young people with wheelchair skills training, advice and information, opportunities to meet and have fun at local clubs, and training to help them gain vital skills for life. We also help them gain their first experiences of the world of work through our work placement programme in partnership with a wide range of companies across the UK. Our strategy includes continued expansion of these services to ensure that young wheelchair users in every community have access to sustained support throughout their childhoods.
Importantly, we aim to influence at the highest levels of government to ensure that child mobility and the needs of disabled children are high on the political agenda.
In Tower Hamlets and Outer North East London we have developed a new approach to wheelchair provision in partnership with the NHS. These partnerships have helped us to transform the lives of hundreds of children as a result. As we look to the future, we want to collaborate more with the NHS. In doing so we aim to reach the 70,000 disabled children in the UK who are watching childhood pass them by – because they are waiting for the right wheelchair.
