Whizz Kidz is looking for an exceptional and energetic individual, currently working at a senior level as a Finance professional, to join our Board of Trustees and act as Chair of our Finance and Audit Committee.

You’ll be passionate about ensuring young wheelchair users can have the independence, confidence, respect and choice to live the lives they want. Experience of working with young people would be helpful. We’ll give you plenty of opportunity to hear directly from young wheelchair users themselves.

It's critical that you’re aligned with our values - young-people focused, ambitious, collaborative and inclusive; and committed to equity, diversity and inclusion. You’ll be a good team player, curious and respectful of other people’s opinions; and willing to commit energy and time and to the role. And, of course, a good sense of humour is always appreciated.

As Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, you’ll give guidance to the Board on all financial matters and ensure the Committee provides strong oversight of the charity’s financial performance and forecasting. You’ll also work closely with the CEO, Finance & Corporate Services Director and Fundraising & Communications Director, offering a helpful sounding board and advice. And, of course, you’ll work with fellow Trustees to ensure the very best governance of Whizz Kidz and help us grow our positive impact on young wheelchair users, which may include making appropriate introductions to your professional network.

Whizz Kidz is a great charity to be part of. Our work transforms the lives of young people and their families forever - and you’ll be able to see this impact first-hand. We have a hugely driven and highly skilled team who are constantly pushing themselves to go even further in making a difference to the lives of young wheelchair users. And we have a lot of fun doing so along the way.

You’ll need to be able to commit to attending up to five Board meetings (in person, usually 4-7pm on a weekday) and four Committee meetings (virtual) a year, as well as preparing for the meetings including reading all papers. We also hold a number of key events throughout the year which we are keen that Trustees attend.
