Hours: Flexible, 3 – 5 days per week

SQL Server Database Development Manager

Salary: Competitive dependant on experience, approximately £40,000. Location: Flexible, Remote working + London office occasional.

Our mission is to transform the lives of disabled children by providing the equipment, support and life skills they need, when they need them – giving them the chance to develop their full potential.

Since 1990, we have supported disabled children and young people’s independence by providing life-changing mobility equipment, such as lightweight manual and powered wheelchairs, and adapted trikes up to the age of 18.

We also offer opportunities to learn new skills, and grow in confidence and ability through national youth clubs, wheelchair skills training sessions, residential camps and an employability programme. All of these services are provided free of charge.

Whizz-Kidz works in England, Scotland and Wales and employs over 80 staff. Our head office is in London, with clinical and service delivery staff based across the country. Further information can be found at www.whizz-kidz.org.uk.

Background to the Role

The journey from when young people first apply for a wheelchair, through to receiving a chair and receiving training skills, attending camps and employability programmes is recorded within a CRM. The CRM that is used is a bespoke database that has been developed in house.

The system features Microsoft SQL Server databases, a desktop C#/Windows Forms client and a number of IIS hosted, Classic ASP websites, some of which are customer facing.

Though the core model on our clinical database is sound, the middle and front end layers require updating to a more modern stack notably moving the databases behind a Web API model and consolidating and redeveloping our websites from Classic ASP to ASP.Net to utilise the Web API model. Further development plans involve interfacing the clinical database with our fundraising and accounts databases. We would like you to bring your skills in modern stack development to help us design and then develop suitable solutions.
