Kidz Board

Whizz-Kidz has a Kidz Board, made up of young wheelchair users who each represent a different area of the UK. The Kidz Board meet four times a year, and have become a very influential group. Their job is to make sure kids' voices are at the heart of decisions the charity makes, and to raise awareness about issues that affect them everyday. They also attend events, give media interviews, and campaign to make a real difference to their lives and the lives of other young wheelchair users.

Penny - Chair of the Kidz Board
Penny joined the Kidz Board in 2018, and became Chair just over a year later. She has been involved with Whizz-Kidz since she was 5, when the charity provided her with a lightweight manual wheelchair. Penny is a keen writer, is currently studying for her A-Levels and hopes to attend university to study Law and European Law.
Millie-Rose - London
Millie-Rose attended her first Kidz Board meeting in September 2019, and officially joined the Board in November 2019. Millie-Rose received a wheelchair from the charity in 2017, and has been involved in awareness raising projects with Whizz-Kidz, for example looking at accessible fashion. Millie-Rose attends university in London, where she is studying Youth Studies.
Lexian - London
Lexian has been an ambassador for Whizz-Kidz since secondary school. She represents London on the Kidz Board and is driven by a desire to see more opportunities for the next generation of young disabled people. She enjoys being on the Kidz Board as it gives her chance to engage with different companies, businesses and organisations and create pathways for young wheelchair users. She is also on the TFL Youth Panel and is passionate about increasing the accessibility of leisure activities across the capital. She works at the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and when she does have free time she loves attending gigs and just hanging out with her friends.
Georgia- South East
Georgia received a trike from Whizz-Kidz back in 2014 and soon after started attending her local Whizz-Kidz Club. She now represents the South East on the Kidz Board and has spoken at the House of Commons and appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour. She is passionate about highlighting to the world what young disabled people can achieve when the barriers in society are broken down. In September 2018 Georgia started a degree in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University, and she divides her spare time between the university’s show choir, Harry Potter society and watching Netflix.
Sophie - South West
Sophie joined the Kidz Board in March 2018 having found out about the Board at Parallel London in September where she was fundraising for Whizz-Kidz by walking 1km in her walker. Sophie has received equipment from Whizz-Kidz and has attended Whizz-Kidz clubs. She is currently studying at college, and is also a young leader of the Childfair State Project.
Freya - South West
Freya joined the Kidz Board in June 2019 just after she had received a lightweight manual wheelchair from Whizz-Kidz. Freya is currently studying at college, and has also attended the Whizz-Kidz club in Exeter. Freya hopes to be a role model to other young wheelchair users in the South West as a result of her being on the Kidz Board, and is a big Hamilton fan.
Brandon - North East
Brandon represents the North East region on the Kidz Board, and has been involved with Whizz-Kidz for over ten years. As well as receiving wheelchairs and attending clubs, he has also completed the Whizz-Kidz Young Leaders programme, and says that the charity has helped him develop new skills and become more independent. Brandon’s primary passion is sport and in 2012 he won a Pride of Wearside Award for sporting achievement. He is a Tall Ships ambassador and in 2016 he sailed round Spain in a specially adapted boat. He is keen to challenge people’s perceptions of what young wheelchair users can do, and he has ambitions of becoming a personal trainer.
Hannah - North West
Hannah has sat on the Kidz Board since September 2018. She has made lifelong friends through attending Whizz-Kidz clubs since the age of 8, and has also accessed work placements and learnt many new skills. Hannah graduated with a degree in Law in 2019, and is now studying for her Masters in Law at Birmingham University.
Conor - North West
Conor joined the Kidz Board in September 2018. He received a trike from Whizz-Kidz in the past, as well as being very involved in the Birmingham Whizz-Kidz club. Conor is an aspiring filmmaker studying Media at college, and is very passionate about getting involved with media related projects within the charity. When he’s not behind a camera, he’s music mad too!
Eddie - Scotland
Eddie joined the Kidz Board in November 2019, following his involvement at the Edinburgh club, his work placement at a law firm, and receipt of a Whizz-Kidz wheelchair in 2018. Eddie is currently studying Law with the Open University, and hopes to become a lawyer in the future. He lives in Edinburgh with his assistance dog, and is a patrol leader with the Scouts.
Ella - East Midlands
Ella is the newest member of the Kidz Board, having attended her first Kidz Board meeting as a guest in November 2019 and since successfully applying to be on the Kidz Board. Ella is a keen sportswoman playing wheelchair rugby regularly, and is a participant on Whizz-Kidz’s sports coaching programme, Activate Academy. She is studying HR at University.
