Your Fundraising Guide

Your guide to help and support you all the way, including ideas, real life stories and how to get in touch

Thank you for wanting to fundraise for Whizz Kidz. The money you raise will help young wheelchair users to get the right equipment, skills, and confidence to go further. Here is your guide to help and support you all the way, including ideas, real life stories and how to get in touch.

At Whizz Kidz, we are on a mission to transform the lives of young wheelchair users. We believe that every young wheelchair user should have the equipment, skills, and support to reach their full potential - this is where you come in! Together we can make a real and lasting difference to the lives of the 75,000 young people in the UK who need a wheelchair to be mobile.

Whether you are a superstar swimmer, brilliant baker, quiz master or love heading up a mountain or out on your bike, the options are limitless. We also welcome groups and clubs to get involved so whatever your idea, we would love your support.

Thank you again for wanting to support Whizz Kidz.

How your fundraising makes a difference

Whatever and however you fundraise, here are a few ways you can make an impact -

£27 could pay for a young wheelchair user to attend a Whizz Kidz activity session in their local area for an hour, providing an opportunity to make new friends, develop confidence and skills in a fully supported inclusive environment. Find out more about our activity days.

£110 could provide additional parts which will extend the life of a young person’s wheelchair at an Equipment Review Assessment. Our Whizz Kidz engineers are able to modify and ‘grow’ equipment as a child grows and their needs change.

£357 could enable a child to benefit from a Whizz Kidz Wheelchair Skills Training session where, through games and fun activities, they can develop vital skills and confidence to help them use their wheelchair safely and confidently.

£600 could enable a Whizz Kidz Mobility Engineer to carry out a Repair & Maintenance appointment with a young wheelchair user. Either visiting them at home or at school, we can fix any problems they may encounter, ensuring they can continue to use their wheelchair safely and enjoy their independence.

£1,300 could enable a therapist to support a child and their family from initial assessment to handover of a piece of equipment.

£2,400 could fund the average cost of mobility equipment per young person that Whizz Kidz supports, enabling a child to get the right kit to meet their needs.

Don't just take our word for it – meet Sarah, and her daughter Remy

In an inspiring show of gratitude, dedication and love, one of our wonderful fundraisers Sarah took on the challenging climb of Mount Snowdon with her close friend, Pip.  Her goal? To raise funds and awareness for Whizz Kidz, who provided her daughter Remy with a new wheelchair.

Remy has a condition called 8p23.1 deletion syndrome which causes her to have low muscle tone and hypermobility, making a wheelchair essential for her everyday life.

Remy’s new chair has brought remarkable changes to her daily life, allowing her the independence, comfort, and energy to enjoy each day fully. Remy can now attend school full-time, keeping her attendance up and actively participating in class. This newfound freedom also extends beyond school; she can navigate shops and reach items on shelves. After a busy day, another advantage of her bespoke chair is that it doesn't take the same amount of energy to propel it, maintaining her energy levels, so she’s ready for more adventures.

The cherry on top? Remy absolutely loves the compliments she receives on her beautiful pink chair, a colour which she chose. It’s not just practical, but it’s also a reflection of her personality—bright, cheerful, and full of life!

Sarah and Pip took on this challenge to highlight her commitment to support other young wheelchair users to access the equipment they deserve. All funds raised via their challenge means we can continue to fund our work that provide life-changing equipment and resources, much like the chair that has brought so much freedom and joy to Remy’s life.
