EY

Whizz Kidz and EY have been working together since 2014. EY hosts an annual Football Tournament, amongst other initiatives, to raise funds and awareness for Whizz Kidz.

Our relationship began with EY’s support for a Whizz Kidz employability programme to help young wheelchair users gain the skills and experience needed to secure permanent employment in their chosen industry.

In 2015, Sam Steel, who’d received mobility equipment from Whizz Kidz, became the first person to be granted a work placement at EY. In September 2021, following his placement, Sam secured a full-time job with EY within the Audit function and has since become a key part of their Ability Network. More recently, EY helped launch the Accessible Banking Forum. Working together with UK Finance, EY set up a series of workshops with other organisations from across the sector to discuss the barriers faced by disabled people in the workplace and the adjustments needed to make the banking industry more accessible. With many of the UK’s biggest customer-facing banks attending the forum, we shared case studies, hosted problem-solving workshops, and created business cases to help drive change.
