Whizz Kidz and Freenow by Lyft Driving Inclusion Together
A partnership demonstrating the power of organisations coming together to drive meaningful change.
Whizz Kidz is delighted to have launched an exciting partnership with Freenow by Lyft in September 2026. Freenow by Lyft features broad multi-mobility options across 9 European markets and over 200 cities, and its black cab fleet is 100% wheelchair accessible. Millions of passengers can access various mobility services within a single app, including taxis, private hire vehicles, carsharing, car rental, e-scooters, e-bikes, e-mopeds and public transport.
In July 2025, Freenow was acquired by Lyft, a global mobility platform offering a mix of rideshare, taxis, private hire vehicles, executive chauffeur services, car sharing, bikes, and scooters across 6 continents and thousands of cities. Millions of drivers have chosen to earn on billions of rides. Together, Freenow and Lyft are helping to create a more connected world, with transportation options for everyone.
We're championing the importance of working in partnership to create a more inclusive society for young wheelchair users and disabled young people. By combining our expertise and reach, we can help raise awareness of the challenges young wheelchair users face, whilst creating opportunities for more young people to access the mobility equipment they need to thrive. Recent Whizz Kidz research found that 96% of young wheelchair users are concerned about the decline of accessible taxis, particularly since they are a primary driver of independence. Through this partnership, we'll raise awareness, support greater accessibility, and help more young people access the mobility equipment they need to thrive.
We're already seeing the impact of this partnership through Freenow by Lyft’s Round Up and Donate feature. This initiative allows passengers to round up the cost of their journey to the nearest pound and donate the difference directly to Whizz Kidz. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us reach more young wheelchair users with life-changing support. Funds raised will be directed to Whizz Kidz's areas of greatest need, providing young people with greater independence, confidence, and freedom, and enabling them to participate fully in education, employment, and community life.
"As the platform with the largest fleet of wheelchair-accessible black cabs, we are committed to championing accessibility every day. We have already delivered accessibility training for our drivers alongside Whizz Kidz, and are determined to lead the industry in setting higher standards across the transport sector. By encouraging passengers to round up their fares, we are enabling Whizz Kidz to continue their vital work while ensuring young wheelchair users can move around easily and on their own terms."
Danny O’Gorman, UKI General Manager at Freenow by Lyft
To mark the launch, a co-branded Whizz Kidz and Freenow black cab will take to London's streets as a mobile billboard raising awareness.
This partnership demonstrates the power of organisations coming together to drive meaningful change. We look forward to working with Freenow by Lyft to create a more inclusive future for disabled young people across the UK.
