Jake: Just Watch Me Be Cheeky

“I’m cheeky and funny.”

Jake is 5 years old, full of personality, and always ready to make people laugh. He loves playing with his Paw Patrol toys and building with Lego - anything that lets his imagination run wild.

But Jake’s story isn’t just about his cheeky sense of humour. It’s about what happens when a young boy is given the freedom to move, explore, and just be five.

Life Before vs Life Now

A really good day for Jake is simple:

“Playing with my brother when we go camping.”

But for a long time, moments like that weren’t always easy. Before getting his wheelchair, Jake wasn’t able to explore or join in the way he wanted to. He watched more than he played.

Now?

“I can independently move where I want when I want.”

And that’s changed everything.

“I can explore and race around.”

What might sound like a small change has opened up Jake’s whole world giving him the chance to take part, keep up, and join in.

Freedom to Be Five

With his wheelchair, Jake didn’t just gain mobility, he gained freedom.

Freedom to play, freedom to explore, freedom to be a bit cheeky.

And most importantly:

“I could move around on my own and join in with other children playing.”

That’s Jake - not sitting on the sidelines, but right in the middle of the fun.

One of the things he’s most proud of?

“Being able to prove I can do things just like my friends!”

Finding His Confidence

Jake feels most himself when he’s surrounded by the people who know him best.

“At home and with my family.”

But that confidence is growing every day, especially when he gets the chance to show what he can do.

“Being able to join in with playtime.”

Because for Jake, it’s never been about what he can’t do. It’s about showing everyone exactly what he can.

Doing Things His Way

Jake is already proving how determined he is.

“I’m proud of doing so well at school and starting to pull myself up to standing.”

And he wants people to understand something important:

“That I am just a normal 5 year old and not defined by disability and size.”

Because Jake isn’t interested in being labelled. He just wants to play, have fun, get muddy and maybe cause a little bit of harmless mischief along the way.

What’s Next?

Jake has big plans ahead.

“Going camping and trying to convince dad to go back to Disney World!”

And if you ask what he wants more of?

“Freedom, travel and lots of fun.”

Why Whizz Kidz Matters

For Jake, Whizz Kidz has completely changed his life.

“It has given me a completely different life of freedom.”

He also knows what would make life better:

“More access to activities and facilities when we go out on trips.”

Because every child deserves the chance to join in.

Jake doesn’t want limits. He doesn’t want people to assume what he can or can’t do.

He wants trust.

“Be able to push and steer my chair without causing a crash or hurting myself or others.”

He wants freedom to keep growing:

“Being able to self propel outside on my own more.”

And most of all, he wants the chance to show the world exactly who he is.
