Whizz Kidz Launches New Information Hub
A UK‑wide digital resource created with and for young wheelchair users and their families
Whizz Kidz, the UK’s leading charity for young wheelchair users, has today launched the Information Hub, a new UK‑wide digital platform designed to provide trusted, practical, expert‑led information for young wheelchair users and the people who support them.
Developed through extensive co‑production with young wheelchair users, the Information Hub brings together reliable guidance on wheelchair skills, NHS wheelchair services, accessibility, equipment maintenance, community support, and independent living all in one place.
The Hub directly addresses a long‑standing problem faced by the UK’s 75,000 young wheelchair users: the lack of centralised, accessible, and trustworthy information. Many families currently struggle to sift through commercialised or inconsistent online content, often feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to turn for credible guidance.
Designed with us, for us
Young people played a key role throughout development shaping content pillars, advising on user experience, and sharing personal stories that helped define the Hub’s purpose. Their lived experience was at the heart of every decision.
“Before the Hub, I struggled to find clear information about NHS wheelchair services - now there’s a space that really listens to what young people need,” said Poppy who is a Youth Board Member and was involved in the co-production process.
Expert-led, accessible, inclusive
Content has been created with clinical specialists, therapists, engineers, youth workers and accessibility experts to ensure accuracy, safety and clarity. The Hub uses clear language, multimedia formats, and accessibility best practice to ensure every user regardless of digital confidence or device, can access high-quality information.
Tackling digital exclusion
Through a partnership with Good Things Foundation, the launch will also help digitally excluded families access devices and data. Whizz Kidz recognises that digital inclusion is essential for ensuring equal access to mobility guidance and support.
Speaking on the launch, Sarah Pugh, Chief Executive of Whizz Kidz, said:
“The Information Hub fills a critical gap. Young wheelchair users deserve reliable, relevant, empowering information and they deserve to help shape it. This Hub shows what happens when we listen to young disabled people and build solutions with them at the centre.”
The Information Hub will continue to grow throughout 2026, with new content added monthly and further features planned as part of Whizz Kidz’s commitment to empowering young wheelchair users across the UK.
