Developing Boccia for young people in North Wales

North Wales Boccia Club applied to the Community Change Fund to promote and develop Boccia for young people in North Wales. There is currently no other club providing Boccia in the region.

The three young wheelchair users at the club used their funds to purchase additional Boccia equipment for the team and hire a hall for practicing sessions. New equipment at the ready, the team entered into their first ever competition; the North West Boccia Open, where they competed against 13 other teams from Scotland, England and Wales. The team placed second and were presented with a silver medal and trophy. The club coach Mark said, “Not bad for our first competition!”.

Overall, the club felt their project had been really successful. The 14 athletes have recently placed 2nd in the Greenbank Pair Competition with teams from the North West, and the team has big ambitions of securing a competitor in the 2028 Paralympics.

“We are extremely grateful for your funding”
