Young Wheelchair Users and Schools Survey
Share your school experience and help make education accessible
We’ve worked with Kidz Board to launch the Whizz Kidz School Report: Young Wheelchair Users in Education Survey. It’s the largest survey of young wheelchair users and schools in the UK.
We want to learn more about your school experience—good, bad, and anywhere between. Our aim is to identify issues, spot gaps in support, and find ways to increase inclusion for young wheelchair users and schools.
The Whizz Kidz School Report builds on the research Whizz Kidz and Kidz Board, the campaigning young wheelchair users at the heart of the charity, did into higher education in 2023. The result was the Kidz Board’s A-Z of Going to University, a guide for young wheelchair users that was sent to every university in the country
This year, our focus is on statutory education. We started by gathering stories from schools and young wheelchair users about their positive and negative experiences. Now, we want to see the bigger picture and capture a broader range of opinions from young people, their families, and school staff.
For Young Wheelchair Users
We are reaching out to young wheelchair users currently in school and their parents/carers to share lived experience. What helps, what hinders, and what support is missing? If you’re a young wheelchair user or know someone who is, please complete or share the anonymous survey. It only takes around five minutes to fill in and you’ll be helping make schools more accessible.
For Schools
We have sent the survey to every school in the UK to gather staff perspectives on working with young wheelchair users. We want to understand what’s working, what information school staff feel they’re missing, and what support would help them provide a more inclusive environment. If you work in a school or know someone who does, please complete or share the anonymous survey. It will only take five minutes and make a real difference to young wheelchair users.
Survey Deadline: Both surveys will close on 25th October 2024.
