Wheelchairs For Young People

Whizz-Kidz provides a range of wheelchairs and mobility equipment to children and young people with a physical disability to give them independence at home, at school and at play

The NHS should always be a family’s first port of call for mobility equipment. However, if your local NHS Wheelchair Service does not provide equipment to meet the essential mobility needs of your child then we may be able to help. As well as wheelchairs, Whizz-Kidz also supplies disability trikes and buggies to children and young people across the UK.

Whizz-Kidz also provides some sports wheelchairs for children and young people with a physical disability, but we don't list all sports chairs issued as our allocation will be based on the differing needs of each individual and the specific requirement of particular sports. If you're interested in applying for a sports chair, please contact Children's Services by calling 0800 151 3350 or emailing

Please note: If you are applying for a piece of recreational equipment e.g. trikes or sports chairs we will only fund up to a maximum of £2500. If the equipment cost is over £2500 the remainder will need to be funded via other sources.

Whizz-Kidz are unable to provide powered recreational equipment due to the prohibitively high cost; this includes power-football chairs and powered all-terrain wheelchairs. Whizz-Kidz employs a clinical team of therapists and engineers who assess for mobility equipment directly to ensure it is suitable and correctly fitted. They are encouraged to prescribe appropriate equipment from an agreed list which helps Whizz-Kidz make best use of the funding we receive. Therefore we are unable to provide vouchers or part funding for independently purchased equipment.

How to Apply

Whizz-Kidz can help with a broad range of mobility equipment to give children and young people with a physical disability independence at home, at school and at play.
