Music Factory Wales purchased accessible musical instruments to make their workshops even more inclusive

Music Factory Wales run a workshop called ‘Dive into Music’ where a team of tutors, all specialising in different instruments, provide tuition in a range of instruments or simply interact musically with the young people in a fun and engaging way. By applying to the community change fund, they intend to make these workshop even more inclusive by purchasing accessible musical instruments.

“Our mission as a company is to make music accessible to everyone as a means to improve mental wellbeing. We believe that music provides people with a way to express themselves without the need for words. The joy of communicating through instruments is an opportunity we should all have, and hopefully making happier, open, and more sociable people along the way.”

With the funding they have received they have bought a variety of instruments to give young people the chance to try new things. All the instruments are also in the same key so there will be scope to all make music at the same time. In addition to purchasing instruments, they have also designed a mobile sensory space:

“We have also designed a mobile sensory space with a light coloured canopy to project northern lights type light show onto and 4 oversized wind chimes, all tuned to the same key. They will have very long strings hanging down that the service users can make all ambient sounds with.”
