International Women’s Day 2026
Today, we’re celebrating incredible women connected to our community whose achievements open doors for the next generation of girls who roll, lead and shine.
Spotlight on some of the Whizz Kidz Women Who Lead the Way:
Sophie Morgan
Broadcaster. Changemaker. Whizz Kidz Ambassador. Sophie has become one of the most recognisable disabled women on UK television, bringing disability into primetime and calling for authentic representation. As a Whizz Kidz Ambassador, Sophie talks about building a legacy so future generations of disabled young people can take up space - on screen and in life.
Hannah Cockroft MBE
Paralympic Great. Whizz Kidz Alum. Wheelchair racing legend Hannah’s journey was turbo‑boosted at 15 when she received a sports chair through Whizz Kidz- “the day that changed my life.” Now a multi‑gold Paralympian, she shows young girls how speed, grit and the right equipment can rewrite what’s possible.
Arunima Misra
Trustee. Award‑Winning Lawyer. Role Model. A Cambridge educated City lawyer and Whizz Kidz Trustee, Arunima credits her first Whizz Kidz powerchair at 14 with transforming both her independence and how others saw her. She has been honoured as Asian Women of the Year (Public Service) a powerful nod to her impact for young wheelchair users.
Ruth Madeley
Actor. Writer. Former Kidz Board Member. Ruth calls Whizz Kidz her “other family member” and says being on our Kidz Board (now Youth Board) helped power her rise as a celebrated actor and writer. Ruth’s story shows exactly what happens when talent meets the right support and a platform to be heard.
Why Their Wins Matter
Every barrier these women break clears the path for a girl who is just getting started - at school, in sport, on the stage, online, or speaking truth to power. Their journeys prove that the right wheelchair and the right support don’t just change access; they change expectations.
And that’s our mission, equip, empower and amplify young wheelchair users so they can go further, faster.
Together, Let’s Back the Next Generation of Barrier Breakers
Every young wheelchair user who comes through Whizz Kidz deserves the chance to move freely, dream boldly and shape the world around them. And with your support, they can. Whether you champion our ambassadors’ stories, support our campaigns, or help fund the right wheelchair, you’re not just empowering one child, you’re strengthening a whole community of future leaders.
When we remove barriers, young people don’t just rise - they lead.
And at Whizz Kidz, we’ll keep backing them every step. Because childhood can’t wait, and neither can the future they’re already building.
