For the first time in our history, we had to make an unthinkable decision — to close our waitlist for children who need life-changing mobility equipment. But thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, hope is returning.

Together, you’ve already helped us raise £175,000 through our Childhood Can’t Wait appeal. We are overwhelmed and deeply grateful. Every donation is helping us move one step closer to reopening our waitlist and getting vital equipment to the young people who are waiting.

But the need is still urgent — and we’re not there yet.

The Waiting List Has Closed — But the Need Hasn’t

Right now, thousands of disabled children across the UK are facing months of delays before they can even be assessed for a wheelchair. Every extra day they wait is another day of missing out:

• Missing out on playing with friends
• Watching school trips from the sidelines
• Losing independence and confidence

Instead of thriving, too many children are isolated, in pain, and dependent on others — just to move.

This isn’t the childhood they deserve.

Why “Childhood Can’t Wait”

Our Childhood Can’t Wait appeal was born out of this crisis. We urgently need to raise £750,000 to:

• Reopen the waitlist so families can once again ask for help
• Begin reducing the 18-month backlog
• Provide the mobility equipment children need to live freely, fully, and without limits

With £1.2 million a year, we could ensure hundreds of children receive the right wheelchair — giving them independence, confidence, and the chance to simply be children again.
