Meet Georgina: The Disabled CEO Behind Purpl Discounts
We sat down with Georgina, Purpl’s founder and CEO, to find out how a shopping trip sparked a movement
At Whizz Kidz, we’re always looking for new ways to support young wheelchair users — not just by providing vital equipment, but by celebrating the people and organisations making change happen. That’s why we’re so excited to announce our new partnership with Purpl Discounts, the UK’s first discount platform built by disabled people, for disabled people.
From 1 July to 30 September 2025, Purpl will be donating 20% of all promotional fees to Whizz Kidz. That means every time someone signs up, they’ll not only be saving money on everyday essentials like food, travel, tech and entertainment — they’ll also be helping fund the mobility equipment that transforms young people’s lives. Purpl have also shared an exclusive Whizz Kidz membership link, if you sign up here a fantastic 30% of your sign-up fee will go towards supporting young wheelchair users at Whizz Kidz! This part of our partnership is ongoing not just until end September.

But what really makes Purpl special is the story behind it. We sat down with Georgina, Purpl’s founder and CEO, to find out how a shopping trip sparked a movement, and why she’s so determined to fight for independence for young wheelchair users.

Georgina, CEO and Founder of Purpl
“I knew I had to do something for my community”
Purpl began when Georgina spotted an unfair gap:
“I was out shopping with my cousin and noticed my son could get a student discount, but there was nothing for me as a disabled person. Living with a disability is expensive. It didn’t feel right — and I knew I had to do something to help my community.”
That moment turned into a business that’s now helping thousands of disabled and neurodivergent people, as well as carers, save money every day.
Why Whizz Kidz Matters So Much
When we asked Georgina about our work and young people not having the right equipment, her response was powerful:
“We are not a third world country — children shouldn’t be left waiting for a wheelchair. A wheelchair gives you independence. It lets you go where you want, when you want.”
For Georgina, it’s about more than discounts — it’s about justice. Her long-term dream is to grow Purpl into a platform that can fund even more life-changing projects, including a foundation that gives grants directly to disabled people.
By the Community, For the Community
What makes Purpl stand out is who it’s built by. Everyone involved has lived experience of disability or neurodivergence.
“Every conversation I have with a Purpl member makes me realise this isn’t just a business idea. It’s a movement. We’re levelling the playing field and making life fairer.”
This community-first model is exactly why Whizz Kidz is so proud to partner with Purpl — because it shows the power of disabled people leading the way.
Looking Ahead
When asked what future she wants for disabled children growing up today, Georgina didn’t hesitate:
“I want Purpl to be the place that everyone knows — not just for discounts, but for helping people on their journey, signposting them to useful information, and making life more affordable.”
And her message to young people waiting for a wheelchair?
“Please know that Purpl is focused on making a difference. Right now, we can help your family save money, and soon we’ll be able to do even more.”
Why This Partnership Matters
At Whizz Kidz, we believe every young wheelchair user deserves independence, mobility and the chance to live life to the full. Partnering with Purpl means that every discount claimed helps us get closer to that goal.
- Savings for disabled people.
Funding for life-changing equipment.
A platform powered by lived experience.
That’s what this partnership is all about.
