Minecraft Magic: Annabel & Isabelle’s Story
With the highly anticipated Minecraft movie on the horizon, we sat down with two dedicated Minecraft players, Annabel (10) and Isabelle (15), to chat about their love for the game, accessibility, and what they hope to see in the film.
Meet Annabell & Isabelle!
Annabel and Isabelle aren’t just gamers—they’re Minecraft experts! Annabel plays on her Nintendo Switch, while Isabelle plays on her laptop and loves multiplayer mode. Both girls find joy in exploring, building, and unleashing their creativity in the Minecraft universe.
Isabelle, who is also a Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast, actor, bookworm, and Pokémon trainer, was introduced to Minecraft by her cousin Tom. “He built a library, and it made me realise just how creative you can be in the game!” she shares. Meanwhile, Annabel got into the game after watching her sister play and knew she had to join in on the fun!

Why Minecraft?
One of the best things about Minecraft for both Annabel and Isabelle is the freedom it provides. Annabel, who has a bubblegum pink and sky blue wheelchair from Whizz Kidz, finds Minecraft to be an incredibly accessible game. “I don’t have to worry about my legs getting tired. I can do whatever I want—run, jump, build, and explore without limits!” she says.
Isabelle agrees, adding, “You can explore like anyone else. There are no barriers. It lets me be creative and build amazing things.”
Accessibility & Challenges
Both girls think Minecraft is relatively accessible, but they believe there’s room for improvement. Annabel wishes for ramps and triangular blocks to create smoother slopes while keeping the game’s blocky aesthetic. Isabelle adds, “It would be amazing if there was a wheelchair-using character. And having sloped bricks to make movement more inclusive would be cool, too.”
Minecraft offers a level playing field where both girls feel free to express themselves. Isabelle has even built a house on water where you can see underneath!

The Minecraft Movie: What They Hope to See
With the upcoming Minecraft movie, both Annabel and Isabelle hope it stays true to the game’s creativity. “It should be as realistic to the game as possible,” says Isabelle. Annabel adds, “Turning the blockiness into real life is such a cool idea—I just hope they capture the creativity of Minecraft!”
Representation is something they both feel strongly about. “I’d love to see a character who uses a wheelchair—someone cool, funny, adventurous, and kind,” Isabelle says. Annabel agrees, adding, “It would show that even though you’re disabled, you can still do big things.”
Building a More Inclusive Gaming World
For both Annabel and Isabelle, Minecraft isn’t just a game— it’s a way to express creativity, connect with friends, and explore without limits. Whether it’s through in-game accessibility features or greater representation in media, there’s always room to make gaming a more welcoming space for everyone.
Their stories remind us that accessibility matters—not just in games, but in real life, too.
