Proposed Disability Benefit Cuts

“These so-called concessions are not a solution — they are a smokescreen to rush through deeply damaging legislation. By shifting the burden onto future claimants, the government is choosing to sacrifice the wellbeing of the next generation of disabled people.

While existing PIP recipients may be protected for now, young wheelchair users in the future will face greater barriers to accessing the support they need. This will drive more families into poverty and have long-term consequences for their health and independence.

Whilst we agree that reform is needed, it must be meaningful and inclusive. Disabled people, including young wheelchair users, must be at the heart of these conversations. Policy that affects their lives should be co-produced, not imposed.”
