Trusts & Grants

Find out how you can support Whizz-Kidz through trusts and grants

Our trusts, statutory and lottery team engage with a number of grant-making supporters

These fantastic supporters have allowed us to grow and help us transform the lives of thousands of young wheelchair users across the UK

What is a grant?

Put simply, a grant is another name for a donation.

Grants aren't made by individuals. They typically come from trusts and foundations, although they can also be made by both companies and statutory authorities.

Here at Whizz-Kidz, we're lucky enough to receive grants ranging from £100 all the way up to £500,000. These can be for one, two or even five years.

Unlike some other donations, tax relief such as Gift Aid cannot be claimed against grants.

If you're interested in supporting Whizz-Kidz through a grant, or just want to find out more information, please feel free to get in touch.

The impact

Jade's story

“When I received my current sports wheelchair from Whizz-Kidz I couldn’t believe how much lighter it was. It really improved my speed on the court and, in a way, allowed me to be the kind of player that I am today. It was really amazing and a once in a lifetime opportunity!”

How do grants help us?

Grants are invaluable to Whizz-Kidz, as they help to fund all areas of our work.

To give a few examples, a grant could help us to fund...

  • Individual or a number of pieces of equipment for young wheelchair users
  • Staff, so we can deliver clubs across the country and continue our work
  • Entire employability programmes over a number of years

However, the most important grants we receive are those that allow us the flexibility to choose where the money can be spent.

This means we can get it to the young people that need it most, such as young people that have been waiting longest for their equipment, or to fund clubs and activities in areas where we know there are limited services but high demand.

Check out our Kidz' Stories section to find out more about the difference a grant could make.

We are hugely grateful to each and every one of these funders who help us to change lives and make a real difference to young wheelchair users across the UK.

How you can help us fund wheelchair grants

Incredible support from trusts, statutory and Lottery has helped Whizz-Kidz to grow and to transform the lives of young disabled people across the UK.

This support means we can provide young wheelchair users with the right mobility equipment and services to help them gain skills and confidence.

As well as longstanding relationships with small local trusts, we regularly work with Lottery funders, government and large grant-making foundations to sustain and grow our vital services.

Our priority is to ensure we can continue and improve our range of services while also being able to respond to the changing needs of young wheelchair users.

Zach's story

"Whizz-Kidz has given Zach more independence as he is much more confident in his chair. He was able to get around much easier and had much better posture. I was so happy for Zach and he was happy to show it off to his friends at school."
