“In 2012, when the world was watching the London Olympics, I was in a coma just down the road from the Olympic stadium. I’d been involved in a motorcycle accident.
My life had abruptly changed in a second, and a new journey had started. I was forced to go from someone whose whole identity was wrapped in their physicality, training to become an officer in the Army. To someone with a spinal cord injury, a disability, a wheelchair user, and a whole array of labels that society now puts on me.
I found myself again through sport - skiing in a sit-ski, racing as fast as I could down mountains - and slowly, a new fire was born.
With experience in the charity sector and large corporations, I now work with organisations on leadership development programmes and deliver keynote talks."

We love inviting external experts to share their insights on our work, but we also have much to learn from each other. These sessions are in response to your feedback. You told us what you wanted to know more about and what you could help colleagues understand about your area of Whizz Kidz.
You will be booked on four sessions from the five that are running, based on your preferences, as much as possible. We will look to run catch-up sessions remotely when we’re back in the office so you can complete the set.
Please check out the list at the event to see which learning session group you’re in.
-
We will share our Kidz Board's definition and examples of what being a disability ally means and how you can be one, too. Callum and Georgia will lead the session.
-
Policy is not always about Government; we will share Whizz Kidz's approaches to influencing Government and everyone else we can! Andrea and Mollie will lead the session.
-
We demonstrate the differences in our charity and NHS services and share how our NHS services deliver differently to others around the country. Louise and Sarah Wallace will deliver the session.
-
Our Director of People and Engagement, Tania Hummel, will lead this important discussion of how equality and equity differ and how thinking in this area is evolving and changing.
-
Discover why corporate partnerships are important for Whizz Kidz and how everyone can support the team to secure and deliver new fundraising relationships. Learn about the different elements of a successful partnership, hear about other exciting partnerships in the sector, and sink your teeth into a fun, interactive quiz.
