Benedict's London Marathon Story

I wanted to run the London Marathon for charity and finding the right one wasn’t hard!

Hello - my name is Benedict and here is my story!

I am generally a rather fit person who trains around 11 times a week, doing various activities such as: strength training, running, swimming and climbing. As well as being a full time wine consultant in Mayfair.

For the last couple of years, I have been running competitive levels of obstacle course races, including two world championships.

I always wanted to run in the London Marathon but I already run those distances plus carrying a log, climbing monkey bars, or tredding up to the chest in mud.

Two of my family members in South Africa suffer from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. They have needed wheelchairs to get around since the age of 4, an age where they didn’t understand why they were different. Their parents do a phenomenal job in finding tech and equipment, so they can have a full life.

Running for Whizz-Kidz was a no brainer for me as not every person has the opportunities to find and fund equipment all by themselves.

Last week I did the Tom Moore challenge and I cycled 100km every single day for a week as well as working full time - I was able to raise half of my target which was fantastic! My next fundraising event is still under wraps. But it might be a Marathon, with a significant weighted this space.
