Margot Continues to Shine

One year later

You may remember Margot’s beaming smile and radiant energy from our 2024 Christmas video. We were delighted to catch up with her and her Mum again over Christmas as part of our partnership with The Express.

What a difference a year makes

When Margot was just 20 months old, she suffered a stroke, meaning she now lives with an acquired brain injury and weakness on one side of her body. Whizz Kidz provided Margot with an expertly fitted powered chair three years ago after Margot was told the NHS would not supply her with one.

Margot is now six, and we met her at one of our clinics just before Christmas. She was having her wheelchair adjusted to ensure it remains a good fit as she grows. Her beaming smile was on display again and she was keen to show us her sparkly shoes!

Margot’s wheelchair means independence, confidence and freedom. She can go on family days out, where previously she had to miss out.

Independence is the biggest thing for her. She can now drive [her wheelchair] herself and go wherever she wants to go, do what she wants to do. She’s less reliant on us and she gets to be more like a typical six-year-old.

We can go on family days out and not have to worry about whether Margot can access things.

Margot continues to shine

Margot was excited to show off her wheelchair skills, spinning in circles, giggling all the way while the photographer from The Express captured her smile. In her joy, Margot shows what the right wheelchair really means.

The work [Whizz Kidz] do makes such a huge difference to children’s lives.
