Welcome to the new Whizz Kidz website

Everything you need to know about our new site and how it brings the refreshed Whizz Kidz brand to life

We’re excited to introduce you to Whizz Kidz’s new website. You must have noticed that things are looking a bit different at www.whizz-Kidz.org.uk. We’re delighted to show you around the new site, explain what’s changed and why so you can get the most out of Whizz Kidz, find what you need and hopefully join our community.

The first thing to celebrate is that our website is now more accessible to everyone than before. For a charity with inclusivity at the heart of its mission, this is so important to who we are and what we do. It was developed along with our new brand to meet the highest levels of web accessibility set out in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). We want all visitors, regardless of ability, to have a good experience on the site. This isn’t an optional extra but a must-have part of the new design.

We worked with different groups of users to build the site around what they needed. And then tested it thoroughly to make sure it’s easier for you to find what you’re looking for, whether that's Wheelchairs and Equipment, Skills and Training, Social Activities, or to Get Involved with our range of events and opportunities to show your support for young wheelchair users. You’ll also find everything you need About Whizz Kidz, including our team and strategy and how to contact us.

All our pages now have a purpose. They’re arranged in a more obvious order, with the most important information at the top. Wherever it’s worthwhile, we will always link to other content that you’ll find helpful or will give you a better understanding of a topic. We’re all on a journey to learn more, so we’ll try to provide you with the best route through complicated subjects to get the help you need.

Our homepage now tells you who we are, what we do, and how you can get support and join our movement for change. One of the most important ways we support young people is by providing wheelchairs and equipment. This section of the website will tell you about the different types of mobility equipment we supply and explain how the process works so you can see what could be right for you.

A new wheelchair is only the start. Whizz Kidz’s Skills and Training enable you to use your equipment safely and independently. Build confidence, reach your potential and have fun with Wheelchair Skills Training. Our videos will help you brush up on your skills, and we’ll tell you how to look after your wheelchair too. We also have advice on employability that draws on decades of us helping young wheelchair users enter the world of work. And because money matters, we can give valuable tips and help you avoid costly mistakes with our content around finance, higher education and online safety.

Many of the young people we work with tell us that the chance to meet up with other young wheelchair users is among the best things we do. Our Social Activities section details our activity programmes and Kidz Max Days. These will help build confidence together and make friends in a safe, supportive environment. Whizz Kidz is there for families too. Find out more about our Siblings Groups and Families Network.

We want everyone to get involved with Whizz Kidz. Please join our community and help advance our movement for a more open, accessible world. The Get Involved section will tell you how to be there for young wheelchair users. Take on a new challenge and sign up to take part in one of our sponsored events to raise funds for Whizz Kidz. From running in our legendary London Marathon team to holding a bake sale, there’s something for everyone. Donate, volunteer, raise funds, or leave a gift in your Will – there are so many ways to get involved. We hope you’ll find the process of finding the information and signing up more seamless than before.

The Whizz Kidz website is a destination we hope you’ll keep returning to. It’s where you’ll find the latest news that’s important to our community and on issues in society that affect young wheelchair users. We’ll keep you updated on our new initiatives, from Morph’s Epic Art Adventure to Kidz Max Days. Don’t forget that you can also sign up to receive our regular email updates. Our e-newsletter, The Round Up, is sent out monthly to tell you what we’re up to and how you can play a part. Follow us on social media to stay up-to-date with everything Whizz Kidz.

We hope you like the new site and how it brings our refreshed Whizz Kidz brand to life. But this is only the beginning. We have some exciting plans for website content that will create opportunities for young wheelchair users to go further than ever before. We hope you’ll keep visiting and be part of our movement towards a more open and accessible world.
