Accredited Training at Whizz Kidz
Why is it important that we offer accredited wheelchair skills training?
It is important to us at Whizz Kidz that our young people, their families and support staff receive the highest standard of input from our services team. For this reason we have chosen to have our Wheelchair Skills Training programmes accredited by The Skills and Education Group. This guarantees that:
- Our trainers are experienced, knowledgeable and well-prepared for your sessions (wherever possible we employ trainers with lived experience as a wheelchair user)
- The content of our Wheelchair Skills Training programme has been assessed and deemed to be good quality
- The training programmes we offer are unique to Whizz Kidz
We have developed a series of awards for wheelchair skills which recognise young people’s learning and development on the course. The scheme is divided into different programmes so learners can choose what works for them and receive certificates to celebrate their achievements!
Modules we offer include Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced training for manual and powered wheelchair users and Travel Training. We also offer Train the Trainer courses for adults supporting young wheelchair users, to enable them to better understand and advise their clients/students.
Our trainers will work with you in school or a community setting and will support you to progress through the different skills needed to gain your award. There is no time limit for this. It might take you one session or ten! We’ll keep track of your developments along the way and look forward to celebrating your achievements with you.
